Sara joined Rueter Scargall Bennett LLP in May 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Sara was a lawyer in the litigation department of McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Toronto from 2002-2006.
Sara practices a broad range of litigation at both the trial and appellate level. Her practice includes the areas of corporate/commercial, professional liability and discipline, securities litigation, administrative, regulatory, medical and legal malpractice, criminal, constitutional and class action litigation.
Sara has appeared as counsel before all levels of courts in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. Sara also regularly appears before regulatory tribunals including the Ontario Securities Commission and other professional disciplinary tribunals.
Sara appeared as counsel for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, an Intervenor, before the Supreme Court of Canada in R. v. Tessling. Sara also appeared as counsel for Mr. Rybiak in the recent successful appeal before the Ontario Court of Appeal in Rybiak v. The Presbytarian Church of Sudan.
Sara has completed the Osgoode Hall Trial Advocacy Course (2005) and the Laskin Writing Course (2003). Sara is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Advocates' Society.
